Mee Shreyobhilaashi.

(Meaning : Your well-wisher)

Brilliant. One of the finest movies i've ever seen in telugu. If only makers of regional movies such as these were acknowledged by the critics, there's a ray of hope for telugu people to beam with pride!
Well, maybe i'm very impressionable. But then...movies like these cud go un-noticed and under-praised, if i don't rave about it the way i do, during rare occasions such as these, especially when nice people like me are impressed. *grin*

Rajendra prasad is the main lead.Story is about a bunch of losers who want to kill themselves. And this guy pools them all up,plans and executes this mass- suicide event. Much needed idea/story/demonstration of why and how people decide to die.And how wrong and silly they are.Amazingly told.Awesome time spent watching it.Precious!
The make is simple.Heart felt.No un-necessary special-effects.No point-less dialogues. No shot/scene wasted.Carefully plotted.Intelligently narrated. Not one dull moment! No time to get bored. The things they portrayed in the film are exactly the things people go through at some point in their life-time.
Maybe i'm over-reacting.But hey - i am what i am..*grin* again;)
Has international standards. On par with...with with with.. Forrest Gumppp! Those are da first words dat i uttered to myself the moment i got outa ma seat in the theatre! I mean the feel of it all - post seein' it. U know, the mood?..u feel sorta inspired?... to live ,give , help, love, that wanna -do-something-in-life-kinda-wanna-have-a-passion-in-life-kinda-thought provoking- kinda-feelings u see!
U somewhat wanna love Rajendraprasad (for what he is in the movie), the way u love God, and the same feelings get forwarded toward the director for having visualized it the way he did.
My rating of the movie..4.5 on 5!

nothing much...

About Golden Compass!
A good afternoon-watch.Nothing more .Nothing less.I'm beginning to get intrigued by meta-physics now.I mean...there's this concept of "dust" in it which made me think deeply about this whole universe of birth n death..the energies that flow from one creature to another...various worlds that exist..mystical beings protecting us etc etc.Although it doesn't really make u sit on the edge of your seat through-out -it does make u wanna believe in such a story.I personally thought its like tarrot card reading. But on a much higher plane involving a human and his demon(here, each one has their own demon, which look like pets to us...n they act as the master's soul.If u bow..the demon bows..if ur hurt..we see the soul getting hurt..if u tumble..ur soul tumbles..)and that its ruthless to have one's demon separated from its master. And the story goes from ...well..dunno! No idea. It does take time to get into the groove of the movie. And just when i geared up to see the big action...i see it end abruptly!*shrug*
Despite the special-effects...which were..jusssshtt OkAyY,..it was likkke..DUH!

Overall...a not at all that exciting but maybe intriguing watch.U have our craig and his gal..eva green in it.But the man in question looked not so hot.And and and i absoluuuutely loved the way za lady looked!!! ... Like an English Goddess!

Movies galore!!!

1)Taare zameen par: Nice one. That kid is awesome!Almost any sensitive soul will like the movie, mainly out of complete sympathy for the kid.People like me wud shed buckets of tears on their T like crazy. That 'ma' song was wow.One enjoys crying for it.Although, some wud look askance at the story of a dyslexic kid turning out to be a great painter.I mean...not all kids turn out to be extra-ordinarily talented if treated well. But this one does.It wud've been much acceptable if they said its a story of a great kid who's been misunderstood or something, instead of calling all parents as uncaring or misunderstanding. Anyways...u'd know if u see it.But it surely makes u see things...which are usually overlooked otherwise. Also lovely music and lyrics!

2)Mantra:Except for some sleazy songs which were totally unnecessary,i must say it freaks u out at one point.No- at many points. Its likkkke...."somebody stop this."..."is it over yet??"...
Well..one wud think its phoney in the beginning..and u wont like the wanna-be-ness of it.But as it goes...it grows on ya.Its a nice thriller.Although,u'd think there are so many loose-ends that are left unaswered, u'd be happy to know there actually aren't any - if only u can understand the dialogues at the end.Meaning one may not follow clearly. But i did!*grin*
Overall...its pretty good, minus the songs and stupid jokes ofcourse.

3)Anasuya: what can i say?!..I discovered another hot favourite director/actor in telugu industry. I've become a biiiiiig fan of this tall guy..Ravi Babu.He being the director,story-writer etc..ravi babu played the psycho in the movie himself too.And he was ossssssssuuummmmmmm!
What a movie-maker!I actually applauded, almost in a sort of a reflex action..at one particular scene. Its like one of the signature shots! And my friend was like...."ushhuuuu...sonyyyy...pleeeease...u crazy? ...ur embarrassing me!"

Anasuya is about the hero-ness of the heroine Bhoomika as a journalist.Undercover.I'm doing everything to take the big girls of my family to show that movie. But they've just given up on my choice of movies lately.Especially telugu. But i can proudly call this one MY choice and bravely take them along. And need not fear the dreaded feed-back/ talk in the car while i drive em on the way back home.
hah!

A mighty Heart

Decent movie.Loved Angie in it.There is this Indian actor...Irfan khan who's equally awesome,in acting, even better maybe! It sure is a must see.A perfect score(yakkawrding to moi..) for direction/screen play/cenematography ..whatever.
Story is like any other. Just that she lived to tell her tale and also make a film out of it too.I mean, everyone is as strong ..perhaps even more stronger than her during a tragedy.I dont like the title much.Otherwise..its all real good.I saw it twice and wept my heart out.But what agitates me is not the real-story funda of it all..but why those journos just walked into sucha dangerous place like karachi and met that underworld guy as if their righteousness in journalism wud protect them in some divine way from any possible danger.I cant help calling the two-some "dumb" i tellya. Else,he thinks he played marbles with him in his child-hood not to harm him in any way or what?? Stupid it is.Maybe they're really great in risking their lives for doing something so virtuous. But it ain't street-smart to do so.
....sigh..Aahmmmmericans!!

All in all..her mighty heart is all about how she handles her hormones during her pregnanacy. Rest one MUST-see!

Movie relief and you

Saw saawariya. ...........YIKES!! Can't believe i actually threw up after seeing it.Blue, black, and all that jazz did it for me.I saw it on one of the news channels that several people had seizures seeing an ad on olympics - mainly because of the color combinations they used in the ad and the way it basically runs - somewhere in china/japan if am right. And i thought -Huh?! But then, post-swaawariya, ...me, puking is no surprise!
The best thing about such movies is that we can make fun of everything out loud and not bother about the silence that ought to be kept in theatres - when the movie is good and a serious one at that!
Thanks to the huge crowd i went with - we made a lot of noise and didn't let anyone else watch it in peace! Although i was disappointed with the missing-butt-shot, (t'was gossipped a lot that there was one..) - we managed to sit through the whole mumbo -jumbo!

And yep...they were supposed to show the protagonist's butt. Darn! The guy just drops his towel down ...well, almost- and sways n swings in full-view in a manner of flashing himself to the world through his bedroom window in one of the songs in the spirit of celebrating his fall in love of the first kind.Sort of a boy-man's so-called love...romantically dis-illusioned,bothersome and clingy.
By the way - this movie incidentally is based on some crappy book called 'White Nights'.

Personally, i feel like slitting Sanjayleelabhansali's throat - each time i see him chewing gum at award functions and kissing his mom and dedicating 'em awards! ..Hate the grandeur and everything about his movies. What with them always having that one ultra-feminine heroine in them - who's too feminine to put her foot down and say NO to the man who troubles her. And the guy keeps hovering around her and hankering. And she let's him be.Anyways my hate meter goes up and up for him as Mister Bhansali continues to be a house-hold name of his fraternity and beyond! God help the world! Least said the better for the sake of my own blood pressure.

However,if God closes one door,he opens another. And i saw BEOWULF!
And we do get to see SOME butt here! Well, the story line has it that the hero embarks on killing the monster enterprise, and goes to that place where it dwells...and yells..."show urself..."..and there emerges the temptress from the water - naked! And instead of slaying her, hero forthwith becomes her undercover sperm donor -only to get back to tell the old king (Hopkins), that he killed her. Then follows the merry making.."Hail Beowulf...he slayed Grendal (monster) and laid his mom(Jolie) in her grave".
One hell of an animated movie !Cartoons for big kids i must say. Imagine Chandamama like story in 3D animation/special-effects -with smart-alec adult jokes and solid unforgettable dialogues!
This movie has the honor of making it into the list of my all time favorites.Rest being Garfield,Open-season,Ice-age,Shrek,and Madagascar. One should ideally kill themselves who missed seeing this new-age..(fairy-tale?) movie Beowulf. I simply am not sure to call it a fairy-tale though. And you'll know why - only if you see it!

Loins Of Punjab

Whosoever this Manish Acharya is...i'm toooodalllyy in love with him! Saw the movie 3 times and can't get enough if it! It's even difficult to exactly tell how good it is.
The movie clearly is made with Manish's tongue placed firmly in his cheek. He very easily yet strongly made a brilliant point by illustrating the Indian peculiarity, how contrived the reality shows can be, the idiosyncrasies and foxyness of the socialites/page3 people, and how misunderstood we Indians really are in America, and how dumb the average Americans actually are! All in a genuine, light-hearted, patriotic, witty, and subtle way. The director himself plays the hero of the movie.A character who is completely detail-oriented,organised,intelligent,logical, romantic,dramatic(...in a way..), cool, and hot...(like /as himself!!) ....ambitious, and someone who can't sing..errr..competitively enough. But entertainingly enough!

Personally speaking, there are two words that bring a smile on my face.Manish Acharya!
One thing's for sure - I'd pay 10 dollars myself to watch one of HIS movies !(...like how he says to that lady - wooing her in the movie. Son of a gun!Manish Acharya, - you make us Indians look cool!
